Make Sure Your RV Hydraulic Pump Is In The Proper Working Order

Could Your RV Burn To The Ground Because Someone Used The Wrong Wire On Your RV Hydraulic Pump?

Hello folks. Jason again with My RV Inspection and My RV Resource. It’s like the Yellow Pages for RV services. Today I’m inspecting a 2017 toy hauler. So I’m going to give you my Weekly One Reason to Get an RV Inspection.

Now, this RV has got a lot of issues and the customer has already walked away from it.  There is one RV hydraulic pump I want to show you.

It’s only about noon, but I'm going to show you one of the reasons they walked away. The generator is on so it might get a little loud, but I’m going to walk over so I can show you what’s up then we’ll come back here and talk about it. So let’s walk around.

This green wire right here, it’s clipped onto the battery and clipped on the RV hydraulic pump. An RV hydraulic pump pulls quite a few amps while it’s working. And that wire isn’t a big enough gauge to handle the amps that it’s going to pull. So when I first got here, I couldn’t put the levelers down. I can’t run the hydraulic slides either because I don’t want to damage the RV. I mean the wires just clipped on.

Did the seller do that just so that I would probably run something and say, Hey, it works, or is that his fix for it? I don’t know. What I do know is that’s a serious issue. Wires that aren’t the correct gauge with high amps running through them, those wires will heat up, melt, or possibly catch fire. Obviously, you don’t want that.

It’s like the Yellow Pages for RV service providers. You can find anything you need there. Make sure you check it out. That’s my weekly reason to get an RV inspection.

A wire that’s not a heavy enough gauge to do its job on an RV hydraulic pump. Have a nice day.
