How to Write a Company Profile That Converts

When you write a company profile — whether on My RV Resource, your Facebook page, Google, or anywhere potential customers can find you — there are a few things to include and remember. Your company profile is often your only chance to convert a potential customer into a paying customer, so you want to get it right.

“Getting it right,” though, is easier said than done.

Some RV service pros think it’s best to give customers a lot of information regarding their professional background and experience. Some RV service pros just give a simple bullet list of services they provide. Others talk extensively about their positive customer reviews, but never actually say what it is they do. Sometimes, the need-to-know information is so buried that potential customers become frustrated, give up and move on to another provider.

Luckily, there’s a simple formula you can use when you write a company profile. This formula will help you give potential customers exactly the information they need in order for them to confidently request a quote or book your services.

The 4 Things You Have to Include When You Write a Company Profile

There are four things you have to include when you write a company profile:

  • The audience (aka, your ideal customer)
  • The problem your audience/ideal customer has
  • The solution (or how you’re going to fix that problem)
  • The benefits (or what that customer will enjoy as a result of you fixing that problem)

Let’s break these four essential elements down and see what they’ll actually look like when you write a company profile.

The Audience

Your audience is your ideal customer. It's the person you want to help and the person you know will most likely purchase your services. Since you’re an RV service pro, your audience is likely RV enthusiasts and/or RV owners. Maybe your audience is a little more niche than that. That could be the case if you solely provide services to a certain class of RV, like Class A motorhomes.

Whatever your audience, though, it’s important that you acknowledge them when you write a company profile. You want a potential customer to begin reading your company profile and think, “Hey, that’s me!”

The Problem Your Audience Has

Don’t just think about the services you offer when you write a company profile. Put yourself in your audience’s shoes. What’s the problem that they have (and that you’re qualified to fix)?

Maybe your target customer’s problem is a leaky RV roof. Perhaps they just purchased an RV and they really don’t know how to use, operate or drive it. Maybe they need a new awning.

Whatever the case may be, just like a potential customer should be able to recognize themselves in your company profile, they should also be able to recognize their problem.

The Solution

Once you’ve identified your customer and their problem, it’s time to tell them how you’ll fix it. You don’t need to get detailed or technical just yet. Make it simple.

You’re going to help them buy a safe RV for a fair price by providing a thorough, independent RV inspection. Maybe you’re going to provide a long-lasting fix for their motorhome’s awning issue by using top-quality awning materials and never taking shortcuts. Perhaps you’re going to help them understand their new RV by providing detailed training based on their exact model.

The Benefits

Lastly, when you write a company profile, think about the benefits your customers will experience from working with you. This one can be tricky. You need to think beyond just the immediate benefit of getting an inspection done or getting a damaged roof fixed. On a broader level, what does that service really mean for your customer?

For RV enthusiasts experiencing a roadside break-down, your mobile repair service means they can safely get back to living their life or enjoying their vacation. It’s not just about fixing the technical issue.

For RV enthusiasts buying a motorhome for the first time, you’re not just providing an inspection. You’re providing peace of mind in what is a pretty substantial investment.

How do your services not just provide a solution to a problem, but actually change the lives of your customers? That’s the question you need to think about when you think about the benefits you provide your customers.

How These 4 Elements Come Together When You Write a Company Profile

Once you’ve identified these four elements, you can combine them to create an intro statement. This intro statement will be the lead-in to your profile and will immediately tell potential customers what they need to know, making it more likely your profile will convert them into a paying customer.

Use this simple formula to combine the four elements into a compelling intro statement:

We help [Your Audience] who [The Problem They Have] by [The Solution You Offer] so that [The Benefits They’ll Experience].

Once you insert your four key elements, this statement may look something like this:

  • We help RV enthusiasts who are getting ready to buy an RV by providing thorough independent inspections so that they can protect their investment.
  • I help RV owners who have leaky or damaged RV roofs by installing top-quality materials and never taking shortcuts, so that they can depend on the roof over their heads.
  • We help RV owners choose the perfect awning by providing precise measurements and quality products so that their RV awning works right for years to come!

From here, you can expand your company profile to include more relevant details that explain exactly how you’ll deliver on the promise in your intro statement. You can also expand or shorten your intro statement as needed, so long as you keep the four key elements front and center.
