Tell us a little about your situation while running North Star RV Inspections.
We currently have a home base and have traveled over 300 miles to do an inspection; the service area includes Minnesota, North Dakota, and South Dakota.
Do you live in an RV full-time?
We do not live in our RV full-time. My wife and I have owned six RVs in our 33 years of marriage and the current one is a 2018 34′ 5th wheel. We take many short and long RV/camping trips each year.
What inspired you to start North Star RV Inspections?
We have enjoyed RVing/camping for over 30 years. We decided to get into this business because of our love of camping and our desire to help others avoid the RV problems we have gone through.

What RV services or RV products do you offer?
North Star RV Inspections does RV Inspections, RV Maintenance, RV Walkthrough Service and Fluid Analysis.
What is your background and how did you develop the skills to start your business?
My background includes 30 years as an electrician and working as an electrical contractor for over 20 years. Running the business successfully has given me the tools to know how to open and run this business.
In addition, I have worked on many RVs over the years so I have repaired many problems I have found in my own RVs. Due to a double-knee replacement, I decided to attend the NRVTA and get serious about working in the RV industry as an RV inspector.
What has been your business’s proudest moment?
Every time a customer tells me that they are really happy they had an RV inspection performed.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Finding customers in an area that has never heard of an RV inspection or that such a service even exists.

Describe your typical work day.
For me, when I am not doing inspections, every day is about marketing and selling the NRVIA and RV inspections and the need for the service.
Tell us something interesting/fun about your business.
Getting to see so many different types/makes/models of RVs up close is a lot of fun!After all, spending 5-8 hours or more inside and outside the RV allows me to see how it was made and observe many really cool features. Doing an RV inspection and helping others is really enjoyable for me.

Have someone else do my website.
What’s your best advice for someone who wants to start his/her own RV business?
In addition to attending the NRVTA, do all you can to learn about RVs and customer service. Represent the RV industry in a professional manner.
Any other comments or advice you'd like to share?
RVing and camping should be fun! Not stressful or disappointing! Get it inspected!
