What is a NRVIA “Master Certified” RV Inspector?
Hiring a NRVIA Master Certified RV inspector to perform your pre/post purchase RV inspection means receiving a proven/verified high level of quality, service, and, most importantly, EXPERIENCE!
The National RV Inspectors Association (NRVIA) introduced a new Master Certified RV Inspector designation in January 2021. The designation was created to help identify NRVIA members who have excelled not only in their inspection business but also within the RV Industry as a contributor. Master Certified RV Inspectors have paved the way for new members and less experienced members to jump into a growing new industry of mobile inspection experts within the RV Industry.
The NRVIA Master Certified RV Inspector program was rolled out to recognize the absolute “BEST of the Best” certified RV inspectors. It is earned primarily through consistent, high-quality work, as well as multiple other factors. It was important for the NRVIA to not have an easily attainable “ladder rung” for a higher level of certification, but rather something that truly allows the NRVIA to recognize members who are putting in way more effort and top-notch services than the rest.
Receiving the Master Certified Inspector designation is not an easy task.
Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements and are subject to a stringent review process:
- Be a member in good standing with the NRVIA and meet all the yearly requirements, including meeting or exceeding the yearly RV-related training requirements to maintain membership.
- Member must have a current and active Inspection business that has been formed and in operation for a minimum of two consecutive years. Articles of Organization or similar documentation are required for verification.
- Member must have a current and active Insurance policy for the inspection business. Policy documents are required for verification.
- Member must have a minimum of 50 current (within the previous 2 years) verifiable RV Inspection reports that meet the minimum NRVIA Report Quality Standards. Only NRVIA Advanced Inspection Training (Essential Plus) or higher levels of inspection reports will be eligible for review by the committee. Inspection reports for FEMA, life-safety only, warranty, repair verification, and similar types are not eligible.
- Member must also hold additional active certification as a Registered or Certified RV Technician from the National RV Training Academy or similar training school. A current technician certificate is required for verification and the certificate must not be expired.
- Member must have a minimum of 10 verifiable inspection client reviews at an 80% (4 out of 5 stars) or higher satisfaction rating. These reviews must be on a third-party hosted platform such as Google, Yelp, Facebook Business Page, HomeGauge, etc. A hyperlink to the direct review page is required for verification.
- Member must have participated in one of the following RV Industry education efforts. A copy of the seminar schedule or link to the article is required for verification.
- Presented an education seminar at an RV Rally, Industry EXPO, Conference, or similar event on a topic relevant to RV Inspections and/or RV systems training.
- Have a published article in an RV Industry-approved news source such as RV Pro, RV Business, RV News, or similar platform on a topic relevant to RV Inspections and/or RV systems training.
- Member must have a professional business website marketing their inspection services. A link to the website is required for verification.
Receiving the NRVIA Master Certified RV Inspector designation is an earned honor and not something to be taken lightly. This designation is only awarded to members who have proven to meet or exceed the above requirements, have shown their dedication to the RV Inspection industry, and who will continue to serve the RV community for many years to come.
Currently, (as of 1/2024), there are only 4 NRVIA certified inspectors that have met or exceeded the above requirements and were awarded the designation of NRVIA Master Certified Inspector. Not all who apply are granted the designation. After extensive review by The Master Certified RV Inspector Committee, some applicants have been rejected for various reasons. Mostly, for not meeting the high Report Quality Standards required for the Master Certified Inspector designation.
The Master Certified RV Inspector Committee is comprised of experienced inspector members who have demonstrated a desire to see the NRVIA membership community grow and have provided fellow NRVIA members with quality advice, sound counsel, and encouragement. Should they desire to, these members must apply for the Master Certified designation just as other non-committee members would and are unable to review and approve their own applications. Other members of the committee are NRVIA instructors and staff.

Robert has been a NRVIA member and certified RV inspector since July 2015 (then called a Level 2 inspector). Since starting Pro RVI, Robert has performed hundreds upon hundreds of inspections on all classes of RVs, both new and used. Inspections have been performed at dealerships, manufacturing facilities, private sale locations & FEMA disaster locations. Inspections have been performed throughout the Midwest and beyond! Robert currently serves on the Master Certified RV Inspector Committee, is a member of the NRVIA’s Advisory Committee, and is available as a mentor in the NRVIA’s Inspector Mentorship Program.
Hiring a NRVIA Master Certified RV inspector means receiving a proven/verified high level of quality and, most importantly, an EXPERIENCED RV inspector. Experience truly matters!
Keep in mind that, although trained and certified, not all NRVIA Inspectors may provide the same level of experience, quality, or service. However, a NRVIA certified inspector is still multitudes better than some of the "other" national so-called RV inspection companies who might spend an hour or two (if you're lucky) "inspecting" an RV... and won't even go on the roof!
Thorough vetting of your potential inspector is highly recommended. An RV of any class is a large purchase for most people and cost should not be the only factor when considering who will be performing your inspection. Quality, experience, and service should be very high on your consideration list!
If you don’t see this logo, the inspector is NOT NRVIA Master Certified.
Only NRVIA Master Certified Inspectors are granted exclusive use of the NRVIA’s Master Certified logo and have also been issued a certificate stating that they have earned the title of NRVIA Master Certified RV Inspector. ALWAYS ask for verification if you are unsure.
Unfortunately, there are some inspectors out there claiming to be master certified. Some with the un-sanctioned designation were rejected for various reasons when they applied for the NRVIA Master certification, others may not have wanted to go through the extensive review process to have their work scrutinized for quality and following the NRVIA’s Report Quality Standards. These persons have taken it upon themselves to have a logo created and “self-certify”. Any proper qualifications or vetting process for the “self-certifying inspectors” is unknown. It appears that the only consideration may be is that a certain number of inspections are completed on a particular inspection reporting software. That does not appear to be very demanding criteria!
