For inspectors, there are two levels of certification – Level 1 and Level 2. The Inspector Badge designates “Inspector” but doesn’t differentiate Levels.
Nationally Certified Level 1 Inspectors are capable of doing inspections required by insurance companies, banks and warranty companies. These inspections usually involve picture documentation and the requirements are dictated by the institution requiring the inspection.
Level 1 inspectors are not fully trained in the inspection process and may not have the ability to perform the most thorough and advanced inspection in the RV industry. They may or may not have attended a hands-on training course but they do possess a basic knowledge of RV systems and routine maintenance.
My RV Resource recommends that you use a Level 2 Inspector for all complete Pre-Purchase Inspections.
Nationally Certified Level 2 Inspectors have been trained in the full inspection process and are
capable of doing complete RV inspections. They have the knowledge to provide the most thorough and advanced inspection in the RV business.
Level 2 inspectors have attended a live, hands-on training course requiring full inspections to attain the certification of Level 2 inspector. The course typically includes general inspection business information along with risk management discussions.
Most Level 2 Inspectors use inspection reporting software to provide you with an easy to read report and may include 360 degree photos and videos. They have been trained on fluid analysis sampling and should have insurance policies in place.
