Lesson 5

Video 1 - 17 minutes

IMPORTANT:

  • We recommend consulting an attorney before loading any agreement into HomeGauge.
  • At the time of recording, HomeGauge was converting Word documents into HTML for their subscribers. This may no longer be the case – please reach out to HomeGauge support.
  • The downloads I referred to in this video are no longer available on the NRVIA HomeGauge page but you should have received similar files in class.
  • PLEASE DO NOT enter the year, make, model and floorplan into the Address text box – this will cause huge issues with the way HomeGauge was intended to work with online Maps and Calendars***

Agreements is the term that HomeGauge uses for contracts and other documents that are legally bound. I’ll walk you through the process of editing agreements and associating agreements with inspection services.

Merge fields – also known as replacement variables are extremely valuable and I go into detail about which ones we use specifically for the RV industry.

Be sure to add the third-party disclosure provided by HomeGauge to all of your agreements.

Video 2 - 14 minutes

In this video, we go over adding, editing and deleting inspection services as well as as adding groups.

Groups are beneficial to keep your services organized and are not limited to the level of inspection. They can be grouped by class of RV and can also include walk-through services, fluid analysis, trip charges and much more.

Inspection services are typically linked to agreements and vice versa but these links are sometimes broken. Be sure to verify the correct agreements are being sent to the correct customer.

Discounts can also be added to inspection services so HomeGauge can calculate the exact price if you want to give a discount to previous customers, members of the military or prospects you met at a trade show.

DISCLAIMER: Each business owner sets pricing for their services because only you what your time is worth – and that price will likely change over time.

Video 3 - 3 minutes

Calendar sharing is not necessary but is a useful tool for keeping track of inspections on a phone or a PC.

Before setting up calendar sharing, you should go to your Google Calendar account and create a company calendar for your business to allow HomeGauge to sync to. This will prevent HomeGauge from deleting events from your personal calendar that may be set up for the same day as an inspection.

It may take up to two minutes for Google to sync with HomeGauge.

HomeGauge appointment details can also be shared to Microsoft Outlook by clicking the link to the calendar sharing feature and then clicking the link for instructions.

Video 4 - 8 minutes

Time Release Messaging (TRM) is a fantastic feature included with our HomeGauge subscription because it’s free marketing – IF you learn how to set it up!

Scheduled emails are sent based on the report upload date – meaning the day the inspector uploads an inspection report to the Buyer Dashboard.

TRMs are used to thank the customer for trusting us to perform their inspection, to ask for reviews, to remind them about maintenance and even about upcoming events that may interest them.

In this video, I’ll show you have to create your own TRM from scratch plus give you tips on how to ask for better reviews – yes, that’s a thing! And it’s completely acceptable!!
