Backside Of Dometic Refrigerator

Hello everybody! It's Jason again with myRVresource.com. It's like the Yellow Pages for RV services. Let’s check out the backside of a Dometic refrigerator and see what we find.

Today I’m coming at you with another Weekly One Reason To Get An RV Inspection. We're going to talk a little bit about RV type or absorption type refrigerators. This particular model is a Dometic refrigerator and it's on a 2021 travel trailer. I just want to show you a couple things that you can look for or you can have your inspector look for to keep you safe and keep your refrigerator functioning right.

So let's get to it. Have you ever seen the backside cover for your refrigerator? Sometimes you can see this little tube sticking out. When you do there's usually a little cap on the end of it with three holes. What that does that keeps water in there and it drips out slowly. This keeps the warm air from the exterior of the RV from getting into the inside of the absorption refrigerator. That humidity can cause it to need to be defrosted and other issues. That's one thing we want to look for.

The next thing I want to show you though is more important. It's to keep this area here clean from debris. This dry material is combustible. Your propane flame is very close to this. When you see these dry combustible materials in here and you have a flame right there you have a possibility for a fire. It’s a real simple fix just take some compressed air or an air compressor with a nozzle on the end of it and blow that area out every once in a while.

Make sure you don't have those dry combustibles inside that area and if you have a Dometic brand make sure that little cap is on the end. This will help your refrigerator be more efficient and safe for you and your family.

So with your Weekly One Reason To Get An RV Inspection we just looked at the backside of a Dometic refrigerator. I showed you a couple of things to look for or make sure your RV inspector is looking for.

This is Jason, Master Certified RV Inspector, from My RV Inspection and you have a nice day!
