My RV Resource loves sharing details about our Featured VIP members and this week, we're proud to spotlight Mickey Works at All Things RV LLC.
Tell us a little about your situation while running All Things RV LLC.
All Things RV LLC is a mobile RV Repair and Inspection Business based out of Woodworth, Louisiana. We cover up to 100 miles, depending on the situation.
When I go camping I do drop my pin in that area and will do work, but primarily work out of my home base, sticks and bricks, in the Central Louisiana Region.
Do you live in an RV full-time?
We live in a house full-time and travel as much as we can. Our current RV is a 2021 Grand Design Reflection 337RLS 5th Wheel. Prior to this RV, we owned a 2020 Grand Design 2600RB Travel Trailer.
We camp locally a lot but have taken trips to the Grand Canyon, Hot Springs, Arkansas, College Station, Texas and Coffeeville, Alabama. I hope to get back west to see more of the National Parks.
What inspired you to start All Things RV LLC?
I like camping and have always worked on things so I decided that the RV Repair industry would be what I did next. After some research, I discovered the Inspection side of things and found the NRVTA school in Athens, TX where I went and got certification in both RV inspections and mobile RV repair.
Since then I have started my business and am working to help the RV folks out there that need my services.
What RV services or RV products do you offer?
We can repair most things on an RV except mechanical problems and inspect all types of RV's from Class A motorhome to the smallest Travel Trailer and Camper Vans. Some RV components include: RV Water heaters, RV Air Conditioners, RV Furnaces, RV Awnings, and RV Slideouts.
We provide certified RV inspections and also have started doing RV walk-throughs and RV training for new RV owners.
What is your background and how did you develop the skills to start All Things RV LLC?
I retired from my full-time job as an Electronics and Instrumentation Technician at a Power Generation Plant at the end of November 2021 and soon realized that sitting at home wasn’t going to be what I did for the rest of my life.
What has been your business’s proudest moment?
I think that my proudest moment as an RV technician, even though it was not that complicated, was to diagnose an RV slide issue on a Newmar Class A Diesel Pusher for Newmar. That was the first, really big rig that I worked on as a RV technician and it was a little intimidating.
What has been your biggest challenge?
My biggest challenge was repairing an electric RV toilet in a Tiffin motor home that would not flush and nobody, including Tiffin, could help me locate the controller for it.
Describe your typical work day at All Things RV LLC.
There is no typical workday! I work as many appointments as I can book 🙂
Tell us something interesting/fun about All Things RV LLC.
I think the most interesting thing about my business is getting to talk to people from all over the country and earning their trust to do an RV inspection on an RV that they are prepared to spend a lot of money on but may have never seen.
If you could go back to the beginning knowing what you know now, what would you have done differently?
If I could start my career in the RV industry all over, the main thing that I would change would be that I would have started this adventure years ago.
What’s your best advice for someone who wants to start his/her own RV business?
Get the basic education and start slow, don't overwork yourself and burn out.
Any other comments or advice you'd like to share?
